A poem I wrote in Guatemala City Airport in memory of my brother and his fiances passing away.
Hold onto your thoughts, move to your heart and feel their life force.
It brings a feeling of being 15, wanting you to be proud of me,
Nowadays, you’re not by my side but you’re kept very alive in the magic of everyday things.
It’s the loudest laugh at a party
It’s golden hair spotted in a crowd
It’s a couple seen dancing wildly together
Nowadays you’re not by my side, but you’re kept very alive in the magic of everyday things
When I feel particularly blue, I fill a page with your names
Or I’ll go for a drive and pretend it’s you taking me somewhere new
And when I see things in twos I think of you
Two eagles soaring high
Lightening followed by thunder in the night sky
Or in the rainbow I see you coming through to say hi
Nowadays, you’re not by my side, but you’re kept very alive in the magic of everyday things
So, I just wanted to let you know even though
they’re not by your side they do come say hi
through the magic of everyday things
